Motor Village UK and The North Paddington Food Bank

Motor Village UK has stepped in to keep a London food bank that helps thousands of people in food poverty running during the second national lockdown. The dealership, located in Wigmore Street in the heart of London, is providing the North Paddington Food Bank with a Jeep Renegade that’s being used to make vital home deliveries. The move is easing the pressure on food bank volunteers as social distancing rules and lockdown measures mean not as many people in need are able to visit the food bank’s base in person. It’s also providing a vital lifeline hundreds of residents who may otherwise go hungry. In the second quarter of 2020, during the first national lockdown, the charity supported 10,829 people and made an incredible 5,553 home deliveries.

During the second lock down, with the colder weather setting in, demand is expected to be even greater. Food bank manager, James Quayle, said: "We have carried out almost 10,000 deliveries across North Westminster this year to people who would otherwise be going without food and essentials. This would not have been possible without the contributions of local businesses and volunteers. “With demand likely to continue and potentially increase, our customers and ourselves need these contributions to continue. This is why the support of Motor Village is so welcome, particularly in the way that they have sought to understand what is needed and shaped their approach to helping on that. Such an approach to support allows us to provide the best possible service we can to customers, and we truly appreciate the support of Motor Village as a result."

Danny Ndoro, Sales and Marketing Executive at Motor Village UK, was behind the hook up with the charity and visited the food bank to understand how best the dealership could help.

He said: “As a business Motor Village is very proud of its local community and wants to play a part in supporting it wherever it can.

“When we learned about the North Paddington Food Bank and the wonderful work it does, we were really keen to find out how we could get involved and help to make a difference.”

“We were only too happy to provide them with the loan of the Jeep Renegade and are absolutely delighted to see it being put to such good use by the charity’s awesome volunteers.”
